Join Breweries All Over the World
We reach out to thousands of Breweries all over the world to have them add their beers to our Beer Genome Project database. This database is used by users all over the world to suggest beers they will like based on their tastes. It is essentially a Pandora© for Craft Beer.
What is the Beer Genome Project?
We wanted a better way to discover new beers. We didn’t want to just rely on experts at various bars and tap rooms for their suggestions. We didn’t want to rely on simple “user suggestion” type apps. We knew there had to be a better way – so we are now building the Beer Genome Project to solve this problem.

How does the Beer Genome Project Work?
We have compiled over 500 variables used to identify beer. These variables range from taste, to clarity, to the basics like beer style and brewing methods. When you identify a beer that you like our algorithm identifies other beers that you might also like. It does this by using these 500+ variables and their assigned weights to find a similar beer in our database. Over time we learn more about what beers you like and don’t like and your suggestions get better.
What makes Beer Genome Project the best way to find new beer?
When you rely on one expert at your local bar to select a beer they may not give you an objective response. It may be based on their personal taste. The problem is – you aren’t them. You have your own tastes and what is good to them may not be good to you. The Beer Genome Project only suggests things based on your individual tastes and not based on anyone else. User suggestion apps are just larger versions of this. You are still being told what you might like based on what someone else said. We want you to find new beers purely because of your feedback.
Who rates the beer?
Our project is unique in that we do not have a panel of judges who hold the fate of all beer reviews in their hands. Instead we went to the people who know the beer the most – the brew masters.
We reach out to every craft brewery we can find in an effort to get their brew masters to review their beers within our secure system. This allows every review to be completely even since there is no way to stack the results (giving a beer a perfect score in all settings would not work – for example a beer can’t be an ale and lager at the same time).
Why add my brewery?
Why not? Sorry to be so simple – but in an effect this is just purely a great way to get your beer brand out there. Many people would never take the risk on trying a completely obscure beer unless they have a reason to. Our Beer Genome Project can suggest beer with such accuracy that it is enough of a reason for the user to try your beer. In a bullet list:
- Instant Exposure – your beer is included in our master database which is used in all of our BrewMaster bar apps across the country.
- Higher Conversions – our apps suggest beer to users with great accuracy. This results in more customers “taking a risk” and trying a new beer.
- Target Your Audience – our core users are people who enjoy trying true craft beer. We only reach out to craft breweries.
- Give Your Customers What They Want – if a user says they like pale ale beers and they tend to stick to that, we will suggest your brand’s pale ale beer. Why is this important? You don’t want a beer suggested to your customers that they will hate. This causes the customer to potentially swear off your brand. We suggest based on their tastes which ensures they maintain continued trust in your brand.
- (Coming Soon) Full Analytics – we respect our users’ privacy. For this reason we never give anything more than regional details. But let’s say your beer is getting particularly bad ratings in the Philadelphia regional area. This could mean either a contaminant problem in that batch, lack of education about your brand (pouring instructions, etc) in that area, etc. These details will all be presented to you free of charge in exchange for helping our Beer Genome Project.
